Empowering Health and Wellness: Kamalini's Comprehensive Village Health Camps
Wednesday, 1 March, 2023
Kamalini is dedicated to improving health and well-being in the villages surrounding its campus through a series of comprehensive health camps. These camps are designed to address common health issues related to poor nutrition, inadequate access to clean drinking water, and limited quality healthcare. We provide essential screening tests to identify prevalent health problems and arrange follow-up doctor visits to ensure proper treatment and care.
Our health camps also include educational classes on hygiene, nutrition, and waste management, aimed at fostering better health practices within the community. These classes cover vital topics that can significantly impact overall health and well-being.
Over the past year, we have introduced menstrual health camps, which are focused on educating women about menstrual hygiene, challenging harmful myths and taboos, and creating a supportive environment where women can discuss their health issues openly. We provide free sanitary pads to participants, ensuring that they have access to essential hygiene products. These camps are conducted by our social worker in collaboration with local Asha workers.
To further support menstrual health education, we organized a follow-up workshop with Dr. Puja Sharma, an experienced gynecologist. This workshop invited participants from previous menstrual camps, to deepen their understanding and address any lingering questions or concerns. The response to this workshop was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the community's strong engagement with and need for such initiatives.
Understanding that many women in the area lack access to qualified female doctors, we are committed to ensuring that our health camps always feature female medical professionals. Recently, Dr. Michelle, visited our campus to deliver training sessions for students and Asha workers, and to personally consult with women from nearby villages who had previously been identified with chronic health issues. Dr. Michelle's visit made a significant impact, providing much-needed medical expertise and support to the community.
The current series of health camps, funded by Mutua Madrileña through DASYC, is a continuation of our ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and education in the region. These camps build on the foundation laid by our previous initiatives, aiming to create lasting improvements in health and well-being for the villages we serve.
