ABOUT US
The women in the surrounding villages of the Kamalini campus, in Sohna Haryana, face significant social and economic challenges that restrict their choices and opportunities. Kamalini Vocational Training Centre seeks to transform them into agents of change in their family and society by equipping them with knowledge, skills and awareness.
Kamalini is a project of Educational and Development Initiatives (EDI) a registered non profit society. EDI runs several projects including short-term educational and personal development seminars in the attached conference block of the Kamalini campus.
Our Story
Started initially on a small scale in rented premises, in the village of Shahpur Jat in Delhi, the Kamalini Vocational Training Centre expanded to its current campus on Sohna Road in 2017. The dedicated purpose-built campus contributes to giving the students a sense of dignity and self-worth and enables Kamalini to effectively reach a greater number of disadvantaged women and their communities. Kamalini currently works with over 20 villages within a 10 km radius of the campus.
The Challenge
The women here face the crushing burden of societal pressures as well as infrastructural challenges. This restricts their freedom to make decisions for education, marriage or career and ultimately impacts the quality of life for future generations.
Our Path
Kamalini aims at helping the women feel valued. Kamalini seeks to respond to the changing needs and aspirations of its students. Understanding the challenges they face, Kamalini provides free safe transport to and from their villages, so that more students can attend the courses. The programs are designed so that they can run independent small businesses from their homes and spread their wings.
The Result
The students of Kamalini grow in self-esteem and confidence. They make better choices for themselves and their families and become more effective citizens.
Our Team
Kamalini is run by a small dedicated hardworking team, who are deeply committed to improving the lives of women, facing societal or economic barriers to pursue their dreams. Skills are taught professionally and thoroughly, and each student is valued and loved and encouraged to reach her highest potential.
