Maria Mendes, is a founding member of Educational & Development Initiatives in 1995, president of EDI, and is a senior executive assistant for the pharmaceuticals company Galderma in Mumbai. She has worked for IBM, Arthur Andersen, and the Taj Group of Hotels. She has more than 20 years experience in the service and educational sector and is a former lecturer of information technology. Presently she helps direct the activities of the Prisca project in Mumbai to engage school and college girls, providing relief to orphans and children from the slum areas.
Monica Rita D’Souza is an entrepreneur of Domus Home Products & Services Ltd. New Delhi. She is a co-founder of Protsahan Charitable Trust in 2003 and vice president of EDI. She currently directs the outreach service of youth in the Vatsalya project of EDI to mobilize student volunteers to run tutoring and holiday activities for poor children, to gather food and clothing for the needy and to visit the aged, the lonely and sick.
Dr. J.J. Kunnacherry, MD and Ph.D, is a Consulting Gynecologist and Obstetrician, the treasurer of EDI and is currently working as the Project Director of Family Health Care and Education, a charitable trust she launched in 2003, after working on a family health project since 1998.In this trust, Dr. Kunnacherry promotes a supplemental educational centre for children that provides poor children a chance for tuitions, in an atmosphere that promotes good habits of nutrition and hygiene, study, and good use of time.She also runs preventative medical care camps in poor neighborhoods.
